Just after announcing that the long awaited Skyrim Creation Kit, the tools that allow in depth modding for the Elder Scroll’s newest title, will soon be upon us in January, Steam has announced that Skyrim will be using the already popular Steam Workshop. What does this mean? It means getting Skyrim Mods to and from your game will be as easy as browsing the workshop, and clicking download. Here’s what Steam had to say.
Bethesda Game Studios announced today that the PC version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be using the Steam Workshop, making it possible for users to submit, browse, rate, and download mods for Skyrim through Steam. Bethesda’s thriving modding community has been creating some of the most inventive, unique, and compelling user created content around. We’re excited to be providing the framework to make distribution and consumption of this great content easier than ever.
The feature also allows users to comment on, rate, and browse through different categories of mods all from within Steam. When this feature will be released wholesale is uncertain, but one can only hope it will be soon after the modding tools get released sometime in January. For more information about these two announcements, check out Bethesda’s Blog, and Steam’s News page.
