Dead Island ships 1M units in its first week

The infamous zombie slasher/shooter/flying kick-er Dead Island has shipped more then a million units in North America in it’s first week, reports game creators Techland and Deep Silver.  Dead Island has been kicking ass in the sales charts across all platforms, including Steam, which as we know, got off to a rocky start.

Deep Silver also noted that the game has topped several software sales charts in regions around the globe, including the United Kingdom, and France.  By the end of it’s current week, they proclaimed that they will have sold more then 2 million copies to retailers worldwide.  Deep Silver head of operations Geoff Mulligan had this to say about their recent success:

“We’re thrilled at the retail reception Dead Island has achieved in its first few days.  The critical ‘first week’ of game sales has been an enormous sales success for Deep Silver.”

Dead Island was released earlier this month, and overall received some mixed reviews.  With a slew of game balancing/fixing patches coming your way, it might behoove you to go check it out.
