Famous developers Jason Hayes and Doug Church head to Valve

While Doug Church is old news, the news that Jason Hayes is coming over is very big. With two such amazing developers there is not doubt that Valve is about to raise the bar.

For those unfamiliar with Doug Church, he did a little game called System Shock. He also did Thief: The Dark Project and Ultima Underworld. He is sort of a big deal. While we are not sure what he will be doing, he could only be working on one of their current projects as others have asserted.

However that is a bit of a strange thing, as Doug’s previous games aren’t very similar to any of their current projects. It would be very strange to see him go from Ultima Underworld to DOTA 2, and very illogical.  Perhaps there is a new project Valve has coming up that he could work on.

Another important factor to consider is that Doug Church was most recently working with EA games. He was actually working on a Spielberg production of a game. That is interesting to note because EA and Steam have been having troubles recently. We may see even more abused developers flock to valve in this way.

As for Jason Hayes, you may recall his music from a plethora of Blizzard games including World of Warcraft. He also did Starcraft, Diablo 2 and Warcraft 3. That’s right, you can thank him when you are humming the Terran theme in Starcraft for the 100th time.

It is much easier to guess where Jason Hayes could go. He could fit in anywhere from DOTA 2 to Portal 2, so watch for his unique musical style. Overall the migration of these two great contributors will mean big things for Valve in the future.
